Went to the dentist again, oh joy!
Around 11, Nan picked me up and we went for lunch, chicken souvlaki.
Afterwards, I visited my Aunt Lori and met her boyfriend’s two sons.
During the day and night, Nan tried calling Dad three times. Two times the phone ran and ran, the third time she left a message.
We watched some of “The Big Bang Theory” and went to bed.

Flight & 17 year olds
I spent the morning with Jenny in Seoul, doing some souvenir shopping. Took us awhile, but we finally found Insadong…and they have some nifty little gift ideas. We also went to Yongsan, but the people there tried to oversell us some external harddrives, so no go there.
Haha, sorry, typing this while I am falling asleep.
On my flight from Incheon to JFK, there was a field trip of sorts…it was a group of what looked like 6th grade boys and girls…very interesting…and I sat in their section. For the most part, they were very quiet, minus the boys behind me…which in the end was worth it when I got to hear their gasps and 헐 at how big NYC is.
I made all the wrong choices for meals, so when I landed, I was pretty hungry.
Ah, we boarded about 30 minutes late, so we arrived at JFK about an hour later. I took the airtran and Long Island train to Ronkonkoma and essentially glomped my bff Kay. We went to Applebees where one of her friends met up with us. While we were waiting, I showed them my pictures from Australia. A guy to my left overheard that I went to Australia and started to ask me questions which lead to questions about Korea. Now…I’m really surprised and a little annoyed at the ignorance that a lot of people have…maybe ignorance is a bit of a strong word, but hear me out. First he asked if it was North Korea. Then he said I hope its the safe Korea (after I said South Korea). And then he started to ask about it being a 3rd world country…but luckily our waiter fetched us and showed us to our table. Apparently this kid was hitting on me…I described it horribly but within an hour of arriving in NYC, I was being hit on by a 17 year old.
As a side note…it was really cool. So we took off around 8:10pm on January 20th and we landed around 8pm January 20th. -
Doctor visites
Monday…oh Monday. Woke up at 7am, went to breakfast with mom and then off to the dentist for my check-up. Back home mom did some work, then she realized that she forgot about the Chili Cook-off at work. Off we run to Wegmans with a crockpot, can opener, spoon and buy an assortment of chili…different brands and different types of chili. Back in the car, I opened the cans of goodness and mixed the concoction.
Before the Chili Cook-Off, we threw the concoction into the microwave, heated it up and back into the crockpot it goes. Met a few people around the office (who thought I was about 16) and ate some of the chili. The Venison Chili was my favorite. Shortly after eating, we went to Target, did some shopping then off to my Chiropractor. It was great to see Dr. Brown and he loved his kimchi cell phone charm. -
JFK - > BUF
Ate the leftover Friendly’s for breakfast and got ready to head back to JFK. I’m a big girl now! I rode the train from Ronrokoma to Jamica station and then the Airtram to JFK to Delta to Buffalo. ㅎㅎㅎ
It was sad to leave Kay again, it was great seeing her and it was a very chillaxed weekend. I hope to have more time with her next time though.
My poor little plane. The tow got stuck on ice and needed the planes help to push out. Then we had a 20 minute taxi. The flight was wonderful and short. Landed in Buffalo and made faces at my sister who was in the waiting area. Met the parents, received the luggage and went to the car. There was a beautiful sunset and as I was gazing, was informed that we were going to my step-dad’s for a belated Christmas gathering. Said my hellos, ate some pizza and back home to crash. -
Snow?!
Kay and I finally went to bed around 2am. I woke up a few times through the night, but overall, I had a decent sleep.
A few hours later, Coram had a snowstorm. Did I mention in the last post that there was no snow? When I landed there was no snow. The following morning, they have a good couple of inches. After a good old fashioned breakfast of Captain Crunch with Berries, we got ready for our day. For lunch, we had our ritual of Friendly’s (I got the children’s menu, and they gave me crayons!) then we wandered around the mall for a bit. I bought a few movies and then we met Zach (Kay’s friend) for dinner at a Portuguese restaurant. For the night we stayed in and watched Season 3 of Hetalia (Which wasn’t as funny as the first two seasons). -
It’s kind of surreal…tomorrow this time I will be at the airport, getting ready to visit home. This time last year, I was on my final days of working at Tim Hortons’ and getting ready to go to Korea. It is amazing at how fast time flies.
I find it amusing that I leave Korea at 7:20pm and arrive at JFK at 7:10pm on the same day…I go back in time by 10 minutes! It’s amazing and I will feel so tired from all that time travel too. It’s a shame…imagine what I could do with 10 minutes! I could draw, write a poem, fix a problem, move things around and mess with people’s heads…huh? Oh, I see. It’s not that type of time travel…shame.

Normally I think I would view this weekend as an ok weekend…however, due to a certain time of the month and my hormones being out of wack, everything looks bleak and depressing. Murphy’s Law is also in place.
Saturday, Jenny, Sin and I took Arry to the shelter. I haven’t updated in a long time, so here is a small catch up for you all. Back in October I adopted a kitten, Arry. As I continued to raise her, her behavioral problems worsened. She has always bitten and I could not break her of the habit not matter what I did. Her meowing also got worse. The older she got, the louder she got. I finally couldn’t take it anymore. She really needed other kittens to play with or with someone that has a lot of time and experience with kittens. Now, I really loved her and that is why I let her go. Because I know she would find a better home elsewhere. After lugging her and her things there after about an hour of traveling, we arrive at the shelter and five minutes later, Arry is adopted and going to a good home. The girl has had kittens and Arry calmed down with her. I am still sad to see her go, but I know it is for the best.
We then went to Lotte Department store, did a little shopping and then Jenny and I headed to Coffee and Waffle house, where supposedly a lot of hot guys work (guess it is a requirement?). I didn’t see any hot guys, they were tall, but I didn’t find them attractive…Jenny did though. The Iced Cafe Mocha was good though.
Jenny and I went back to the station to catch the next train, which turned out to be sold out for standing and seating, so we decided to wait around another hour for the next train. Did a little more shopping and I bought Candy Black Tea (which Jenny bought from me to give to me in which it is now a gift to my mom from Jenny). I was so excited…candy in tea! My two favorite things! This morning, I opened up one of the bags and I could smell orange. I thought crap. I asked Jenny, she didn’t smell it. I brewed it, and looked at the tea bag…there is an orange peel. I read the box…오렌지필(orange peel)…RAWR!!!! There are other fruits in there and such, but yea…stupid allergy.

Last night Jenny and I had galbi with Jae and then met up with Sin for 노래방 (norae bang = singing room). I couldn’t get into it. After, Jenny and I had a sleepover and I painted my nails neon green with a black crack nail polish. I also made Cola Floats.
Maybe today after some cleaning, I’ll go to a cafe and study some Korean. I think that will help me cheer up. -
North Korean leader Kim Jong Il dies
It was reported earlier today that North Korean leader, Kim Jong Il died Saturday morning due to fatigue and being over worked. Along with his death, SK stocks have plummeted. This is due to Koreans (and I’m guessing people around the world) becoming aware of what this could bring, the continuation of the war.
It was once reported that Kim John Il’s third son, Kim Jong-Eun. Not much is known about him. He studied in Switzerland and is believed to be fluent in English and Chinese. It is also believed that he is around the age of 27 years. It has also been said that he is crazy, if not crazier than his father.
The South Korean army is also on high security. It will be interesting to see what will happen.
